What Does “Low-Mobility” Mean?
“Low-mobility” generally refers to individuals who experience significant difficulty or limitations in movement, which may impact their ability to engage in certain physical activities. Here are some common criteria that might indicate you or a family member qualifies as low-mobility:
Criteria for Low-Mobility
- Use of Mobility Aids: You require the use of mobility aids such as a wheelchair, walker, cane, or crutches for daily activities.
- Limited Walking Ability: You have difficulty walking or standing for extended periods (more than a few minutes) without rest due to a physical condition or illness.
- Chronic Pain or Fatigue: You experience chronic pain or fatigue that limits your ability to walk, climb stairs, or participate in physical activities.
- Balance or Coordination Issues: You have conditions affecting your balance or coordination, increasing the risk of falls or making it challenging to navigate uneven terrain.
- Respiratory or Cardiac Conditions: You have a medical condition, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or heart disease, that limits your ability to engage in strenuous physical activities.
- Arthritis or Joint Problems: You suffer from arthritis, joint pain, or other musculoskeletal issues that limit your mobility.
