This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in our mission to make fossil hunting accessible, educational, and enjoyable for everyone in Maryland and beyond.

As a board member, you’ll be instrumental in guiding MFF’s strategic direction and supporting our initiatives. Your involvement will directly impact our ability to offer educational programs, organize fossil hunts, and engage with our community. Whether you have a background in leadership, finance, or fundraising, we welcome your expertise and enthusiasm.
Key Board Roles
We are currently seeking individuals to fill the following key positions on our board:
- President
- Provide leadership and vision for MFF.
- Represent the organization publicly and oversee strategic planning.
- Ensure the board operates effectively and aligns with our mission.
- Secretary
- Maintain accurate records of board meetings and manage official documents.
- Ensure smooth communication and coordination within the board.
- Assist with agenda setting and meeting preparations.
- Treasurer
- Oversee MFFโs financial health and manage budgeting and reporting.
- Ensure transparency and compliance with financial regulations.
- Provide financial insights and guidance to support decision-making.
- Fundraising Chair
- Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support our mission.
- Cultivate relationships with donors and oversee fundraising campaigns.
- Coordinate events and initiatives to drive financial support for MFF.
- Program Development Chair
- Lead the development and evaluation of MFFโs educational and outreach programs, including fossil hunts and community events.
- Work with staff and volunteers to design and implement programs that align with MFFโs mission.
- Assess program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements.
Responsibilities
As a board member, your responsibilities will include:
- Attending and participating in board meetings and committee work.
- Providing strategic guidance and oversight to support MFFโs goals.
- Contributing to fundraising efforts and community outreach.
- Advocating for MFFโs mission and ensuring the organization remains aligned with its values.
