At Maryland Fossil Finders, we are committed to making our events inclusive and accessible for everyone. Here’s a detailed overview of the support and accommodations we offer to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all participants:

Transportation Support

While we cannot guarantee transportation, we will do our best to assist in arranging options for those who need it. Please contact us as early as possible if you require help with transportation to and from our events.

Mobility Support

We aim to support your mobility needs, though full accessibility may not be available at all locations. If you have specific requirements or need extra assistance, please inform us in advance so we can do our best to accommodate you. For those with handicap parking tags, we can offer a flat hunting experience by eliminating steep inclines.

Tactile Fossil Hunting

For blind and low-vision participants, we offer personalized guidance in searching for fossils by touch. You’ll receive voice-guided assistance to our hunting spots and orientation support if needed. Our team will teach you how to sift through sand and gravel, helping you identify shark teeth and other fossils by feel. We’re here to guide you through the process and describe your finds, making the tactile experience of fossil hunting accessible and enjoyable.

Communication Accessibility

To facilitate communication for our Deaf and hard of hearing participants, we collaborate with local ASL translators. If you require ASL interpretation, please contact us ahead of time to arrange this support. We want to ensure that everyone can fully participate and enjoy our events.

Restroom Facilities

For any urgent restroom needs, we will provide a privacy tent with tissue and waste disposal bags to maintain a clean and respectful environment. This setup allows for a discreet and convenient solution if needed.

Sensory Breaks

For those who may need a break from the sensory stimulation of the event, a privacy tent will be available. Feel free to use this space as needed to take a break and recharge. Your comfort is our priority.

Service Animal Accommodations

Service animals are welcome at all our events. If you plan to bring a service animal, please inform us in advance so we can ensure we provide a supportive and accommodating environment for both you and your animal.

Flexible Participation

We understand that everyone’s needs and comfort levels vary. You are welcome to take breaks or leave the event at any time. Your well-being is important to us, and we want to ensure that you feel comfortable throughout your experience with us.
